Traffic Court Records in Archer County
Traffic tickets in Archer County land in one of two places. Most go to a justice of the peace court or a city municipal court. The District Clerk is not the spot. Your citation names the issuing agency. That court alone controls the docket, your response deadline, how you pay, and how you request copies. JP courts handle traffic and other Class C cases inside their precincts. Municipal courts take city ordinance matters and fine-only state offenses filed within city limits.
The court record may list the citation number and the offense. It can also show issue and appearance dates, your plea, hearing settings, failure-to-appear status, payment or program requests, the outcome, and any balance due. There is no single countywide citation index. Archer County offers no unified citation-number portal. Plan on calling or visiting the specific court.
Read the Archer County Citation
Look first at the court name printed on the ticket. For general traffic questions, the county contact directory routes calls to 940-574-4514, the line for JP Precinct 1. If the citation names JP 2, JP 3, JP 4, or a municipal clerk instead, that one number will not cover it.
Fast routing rule: Use the issuing court on the citation, then give that office the citation number and issue date. If the ticket is missing, identify the issuing agency, location, and approximate date before calling.
Copy a number shown as citation number as printed exactly as it appears. Archer County uses no single published format. A made-up prefix can send your docket search the wrong way.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
Try every access channel the court offers. A payment link may pull up a case, but it is not a full docket index. The local District Clerk defendant-access site searches by case number, name and date of birth, vehicle, and other modes, though it should not be assumed to hold all JP traffic cases.
- Read the citation and identify the issuing JP precinct or municipal court.
- Use that court's official pay or case link if one is listed.
- Call the issuing court with the citation number and issue date if no result appears.
- Visit or mail the issuing court when an online route is absent or a copy is needed.
- Write down the court date, response deadline, plea status, balance, and disposition shown by the court.
Do not lean on re:SearchTX as a traffic fallback. Its statewide rollout excludes criminal case records. A Tyler Odyssey district search coming up empty also does not prove a lower-court citation is missing. The court that received the charge is still the source.
Four Archer County JP Routes
The Archer County Justice Courts page lists each judge separately, with phone lines, mailing addresses, and payment links. Treat every precinct as its own traffic records office.
| Precinct | Judge | Phone | |
|---|---|---|---|
| JP 1 | R. Joe Aulds | 940-574-4514 | PO Box 715, Archer City |
| JP 2 | Corky Scarbrough | 940-586-0237 | PO Box 973, Holiday |
| JP 3 | Robby Shawver | 940-562-5030 | PO Box 162, Megargel |
| JP 4 | Missy Hoegger | 940-541-2250 | PO Box 24, Scotland |
The official JP source lists each precinct separately and supports this court-by-court routing. It also links Certified Payments, which processes payments but is not itself the public docket.
The point stays the same. The named precinct, not a generic county search, decides where the traffic file lives.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
Track the appearance date printed on the citation first. Confirm it with the issuing court before you travel, since a reset, plea, payment, or program request may have moved the setting. A portal entry is only as current as the court's posted data.
| Citation Number | Use the exact number printed by the issuing agency; no single Archer County format was verified. |
|---|---|
| Court | The named municipal court or JP precinct that owns the case record. |
| Date & Time | The response or appearance setting, which should be confirmed with the clerk. |
| Setting Type | A plea, pretrial, trial, or other event, if the court lists one. |
| Status | Pending, disposed, paid, reset, or failure-to-appear language recorded by the court. |
Holliday posts a recurring municipal setting on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m., with trials as needed. That is not a countywide calendar. Archer City bulletin dates can shift too. For broader setting research, the Archer County court calendar explains how hearing and jury listings differ.
Archer County Municipal Records
Archer City, Holliday, Lakeside City, and Windthorst all appear in official directories or city sources with municipal court information. Archer City's court is listed as not of record. It uses UDS/MCRS; reach it at 118 S. Sycamore, PO Box 367, 940-574-4570. Holliday publishes court hours, plea topics, a pay-ticket route, and its monthly setting at 110 W. Olive. Lakeside City Code Chapter 7 makes the city secretary the ex-officio municipal court clerk. The same chapter refers to court minutes and a docket. Windthorst shows up in the state directory but offers no separate public search portal. Scotland's municipal coverage is unclear. Check a Scotland-area citation against the ticket and JP Precinct 4 rather than guessing.
A city court's payment page, bulletin, or directory listing can help route a case. It will not give you a full docket history.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
A citation presents choices that shape the court case. Call the issuing court before you act, because Archer County courts do not share one set of eligibility rules, extension limits, or online fees. Ask how that court treats payment, a not-guilty plea, defensive driving, or deferred disposition for your specific case.
| Paying | Contesting |
|---|---|
| Ask which plea accompanies payment and what disposition will be entered. | Enter the plea through the issuing court and obtain the next setting. |
| Use only that court's approved online, mail, or counter channel. | Follow that court's written or in-person procedure. |
| Keep the receipt, then ask if separate proof of disposition is needed. | Keep the setting notice and confirm later resets with the clerk. |
Missed response or court date: Call the issuing court at once. Ask whether the case is pending, disposed, transferred, or in warrant or failure-to-appear status, and get the court's steps for resolving it.
A blank portal page after a date passes means little. It may reflect a posting delay, a separate system, or the wrong venue. The clerk can match the citation number to the live case record.
Archer County Payment Is Not Search
Paying online is not the same as searching a case. The Justice page links Certified Payments. The District Clerk also runs its own site where a defendant can pay fines. Both handle money. Neither one is a full Archer County traffic docket search. Treat a receipt as proof of payment only.
A receipt shows the transaction. It does not necessarily show the plea, the judgment, the disposition, or any certification another office may require. Once you have paid, ask the issuing clerk for the exact court record you need. Give the citation number. Ask whether a plain copy or a certified disposition fits your purpose.
Archer County Traffic Disposition Proof
Money and outcome are different questions. A cleared balance proves funds posted to the case. A certified disposition records the court's authenticated result. For that second document, go back to the issuing JP or municipal clerk. Name the citation number, ask about certification, and confirm how the copy will reach you.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two files sit with two different offices. The municipal or JP court that heard the citation keeps the Archer County court record. The state licensing agency keeps the Texas driver record. Keeping the distinction straight keeps your request from landing at the wrong office.
| Court traffic record | State driver record | |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Issuing Archer County JP or municipal clerk | Texas Department of Public Safety |
| Contents | Citation, plea, settings, court disposition, fine or cost status | State-maintained driver history |
| Request | Court lookup, phone, mail, or counter request | State agency record-request process |
A receipt is not a certified court record. A court file is not a state driver record. For the case history behind a citation, return to the court, and ask for a certified disposition whenever you need authenticated proof.
Missing Archer County Ticket Record
An empty search result is not a final answer. A brand-new citation may simply not be posted yet. Or you may be searching the District Clerk when a JP or city clerk actually holds the file. Sometimes the case sits under a different number, or it has already been disposed. Retrace the venue with the citation number and the name of the issuing agency.
- Call the court named on the ticket with the citation number and date.
- Ask whether the matter is pending, disposed, transferred, or under another court number.
- If the date passed, ask specifically about warrant or failure-to-appear status.
- Request the docket or disposition from that court, including certification if needed.
Lost the paper citation? Call the agency that likely wrote it, then the court serving that place. Hold back sensitive identifiers by email unless the court itself directs you to a secure method.
Fees and Copies
There is no single traffic-copy fee schedule covering every JP and municipal court in Archer County. Each court sets its own payment fees, program fees, search charges, and certification costs, so confirm them with the issuing court directly. Never assume the county clerk's fees apply to a city or JP traffic file.
| Item | Published amount | Best source |
|---|---|---|
| Plain traffic case copy | Not verified countywide | Issuing municipal or JP clerk |
| Certified disposition | Not verified countywide | Issuing municipal or JP clerk |
| Search or payment processing | Varies by court and channel | Official court or approved payment page |
Get a written total before you mail any payment. Say whether you want delivery by mail, email, or pickup. If you need proof of how the case ended, ask for a disposition or judgment by name rather than a vague "ticket receipt."
Archer County Traffic Fields
A complete traffic query helps the clerk tell one citation from another. Have the citation number ready, plus the issuing agency or city, the court or precinct, the offense, the issue date, and the appearance date. From there, ask about the plea, the current setting, failure-to-appear status, any payment or program request, the disposition, the balance, and whatever proof has been filed.
- Appearance date
- The date printed for a response or court appearance, subject to clerk confirmation.
- Disposition
- The court's recorded outcome, which can be requested as a certified copy.
- Reset
- A changed setting date, not a dismissal of the citation.
- Failure to appear
- A status to address directly with the issuing court when a required date was missed.
Short docket labels can hide the full story. Ask the court to explain any unfamiliar status in the live Archer County traffic record.
